Today Angels Flight reopened its doors for the public as a kick off for the 20th Left Coast Crime Mystery Convention. Working with Michael Connelly, bestselling author of mysteries, thrillers, and the Harry Bosch LAPD detective series, John Welborne, the president of the Angels Flight Railway Foundation, worked hard with Connelly to have the opening of Angels Flight today. Connelly is also the writer of Angels Flight.

Today's opening was earlier than expected, with some media reporting that it would open to the public sometime in April, or as the LA times reported with a bit more accuracy, this upcoming Monday. However, according to the ride manager, Angels Flight is open now, and Angelenos can enjoy going up and down on it from 6:30am to 10:00pm. Just don't forget to bring your quarter for the fare.

Angels Flight is a nonprofit organization, with revenues going strictly into restoration and maintenance costs. Since the 2001 incident, automatic gates have been installed onto the entrance/exit ways of the cars, and the system has now been converted into a four-part braking system.

If you do get a chance to ride Sinai or Olivet (the name of the two cars) down to Hill street or up to Olive street, take a look at the advertisements, and you will see that some of them are for Michael Connelly's books.
